The first layer of aromas is highlighted with black forest fruits, predominantly blackberries and wild berries. Soon after the toasted notes of the barreling reveal a greater complexity, complemented with spiced notes, principally of pepper. On the palate, the tannins are firm from the outset and the fruit is mature.

The Parson is a lively berry-scented drop with a hint of black pepper on the nose. Shiraz fruit floods the mouth with good depth and persistence, finishing dry and firm.

With grapes from the world's leading pinot noir region making a guest appearance, Church Road's award winning winemaker, Chris Scott, has hand crafted an exceptional wine that combines elegance and undeniable presence.

On the nose, is a complex amalgam of dark berry fruit, cassis and roasted cocoa bean, lifted by more fragrant aromas of cedar, sandalwood and hints of dried lavender and thyme.

Rich plum and berry fruit is lifted by fragrant spice, violet and liquorice aromas. The palate is medium weight and supple with a long finish.

The Devil's Staircase takes the willing down into the realm of decadence and bacchanalian delights. Here everything is pleasure, spiced up with a dash of naughtiness. Central Otago's cool climate consistently produces exceptional red fruit flavours of cherry, raspberry and redcurrant, but with concentration and length to match. This wine is layered with black and red berry fruits, complemented by blossoming aromas of dark plum.

Pinot Noir is fickle but she is charming, she is temperamental but bewitching. She is the Fickle Mistress.
